I have been a teacher for over 10 years and more recently I have been a full time tutor working predominantly with children (age 4 to 16) that struggle to access mainstream education due to a variety of reasons including behaviour and special educational needs. I have taught reception, year 1 and year 2 as well as taught lessons in KS2. I have an excellent knowledge of KS1 SATS and year 1 phonics screening test in particular and feel confident at helping children to get the required levels in these tests. Through my knowledge of the early years curriculum, I am also able to help prepare children for starting school and develop their early reading, writing and maths skills. I believe in practical tuition to sustain interest and develop a love of learning. I enjoy supporting children that are finding learning difficult and have had great success with this. I also enjoy challenging children to perform to the best of their ability. I have supported many children with SEND and am able to adapt my teaching to support children with different needs. I have a strong interest in maths and have been tutoring GCSE maths for the last 4 years particularly working with the Edexcel scheme. I have 4 A levels in chemistry, maths, English literature and music. I have a degree in English and a teaching degree. I am happy to support children with their written English and ability to write essays as well as English grammar. I have 4 children myself who are 0, 6, 12 and 16 so I am used to children across all age ranges.
